Happily ever after is ... being the queen of my own castle
Thursday, April 19, 2012
It's been awfully quiet here for months now—but it's for a really good reason. Sometime over the holidays, the opportunity to purchase my own home fell into my lap, so the last few months have been a whirlwind of looking at apartments, applying for a mortgage (gulp!), and having my life sifted through a strainer by the powers that be.
Thankfully, it all worked out, and on March 29, 2012, I got the keys to my very own little kingdom.
It's taking some getting used to being on this side of the bridge, but I like it.
It's always fun getting to know a new neighborhood and finding all your new spots, be it a bagel place or a running route ...
I expect this blog will take on a bit of a home-focused twist for a little while as my life gets consumed with nesting. I hope you'll join the ride as I enter a new phase of my happily ever after: being the queen of my very own tiny castle!

Have you tried Brooklyn Heights Wine Bar yet? That place sold us on the neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteAre we neighbors, Shar? Amazing! I haven't tried it but I plan on doing so tomorrow night!
ReplyDeleteThe burger at BHWB is awesome ... and I totally recommend the Jalapeno Margarita. Henry's End is also an awesome place, and it's owned by the same ppl.
DeleteI'm living in the apartment buildings near Henry & Pierrepont ... what about you? Shoot me an email [strwbrymay.at.yahoo] if you need any neighborhood recommendations.
Congrats!! I bought my first home about 1 1/2 years ago, and although it can be stressful at times it is fun picking out fixtures and paint that you probably wouldn't be able to choose if you were renting. Plus....it is a huge investment, and you will love it when you get your tax return next year. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Cece! I think I'm still stuck in a renter's rut where I'm so scared to even pound one nail into the wall but hopefully that will change soon!
ReplyDeleteHi Celine,
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Brooklyn!
I just came across your '30 Before 30 Project' blog (and followed your new blog link over to here!) while pondering my own '30 before 30' list I'm working on. I really like your blog, and your attitude about what it means to live 'happily ever after'.... I couldn't agree more! I'll be following on Bloglovin!
